MY EXPERIENCE
Hello and welcome to Arnold Dyslexia.
My name is Karen and I am a qualified dyslexia specialist. I am based in Maidstone, Kent and offer assessments and advice from home, in-person. I provide dyslexia assessments across Kent.
I have been a primary and secondary school teacher and SENCO in mainstream and specialist education for over 25 years and have a wealth of experience with supporting children with additional needs including dyslexia, speech and language disorders, autism and ADHD.
This wealth of experience as a classroom teacher and SENCO helps me to make specific recommendations for children with dyslexic difficulties as I have an up-to-date understanding of the classroom environment.
I am passionate about helping individuals get access to the right help they need to support their learning.
Qualifications
- BEd (Hons) Primary Education
- Postgraduate Certificate in language and communication impairment in children
- National award for SEN Coordination
- SpLD - Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Specialist Teaching and Assessment of Dyslexia
- Assessment Practising Certificate (APC)
An APC (Assessment Practising Certificate) is what underpins a dyslexia assessor's qualifications and competence enabling them to undertake full diagnostic assessments for dyslexia.
Memberships
I am a member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA).
